The Cairo Giants then suffered from another big blow as Ekramy got injured right after the goal. ‘Zizo’ had to substitute the team’s primary goalkeeper with Mosaad Awad. Al Ahly continued searching for an equaliser but the strikers missed the final touch. ‘Zizo’ then made two more substitutions, bringing on Saleh Gomaa and Malik Evouna instead of Hossam Ghaly and Antwi. Samir Kamouna’s side continued defending their goal perfectly and managed to endure Al Ahly’s pressure to end the first half with a tie. Ghazl El-Mahalla surprised Al Ahly with a goal five minutes into the second half from a cross that was shot by unmarked Mohamed Yehia, who easily scored the opener.

Four minutes before the match’s official time ended, Ghazl El-Mahalla defender was sent off for receiving two yellow cards. The referee awarded Al Ahly with a penalty kick two minutes into the injury time after El-Mahalla’s defender used his hand to clear the ball, but bad luck continued following the team and Abdullah El-Said failed to score. Fans were finally relieved when Ramadan Sobhy fired a shot that went to the corner of Mohamed Fawzy’s net, announcing the return of The Red Devils to the game in the 96th minute. Al Ahly made efforts to win the match by scoring a second goal in the last minutes but Ghazl El-Mahalla players stood their ground and made sure they finish the match in a tie.
